If We Can
Plastic Music

I started recording on my PC in 1997, using Cakewalk. Because Cakewalk is first a sequencer (a sequencer is for recording keyboards), and second a wave recording program, these songs were very keyboard and synth based. In fact, I didn't even have a synth back then, so I was using the sound-fonts on my PC. That's what gives these such a plastic sound.
Genre Instability
Though romantic piano ballads poor from my pores, it used to never seem manly enough (back when I was younger). I wanted my songs to be mainstream, to have the crunch of electric guitar, to be danceable, that kind of thing. But that's just not me.
So I've embraced the piano, the ballad, and the poet in me.
Song Biographies
- If We Can - This was written for a couple of young lads I knew in New Jersey. Their dad just dumped their mom and starting havnig a relationship with another woman. He suddenly changed, and didn't want anything to do with his old family.
- Where I Go
- Talk About It
- Consequences - My dad wrote the majority of the lyrics for this song. I was drawn into his poem after the first reading, and challenged to make it fit a song.
- 'Cause I Love You
- Live Forever - I was in a covers rock band for a while, called "Ruler of Jungle," and we tried to write some originals. This song was my attempt.
- Midnight My Love - One night I flipped on the synthesiser and started playing. I decided to record what I was doing, and it turned into this song.
- That's Why - This song has seen a number of different recordings. I actually wrote it back in 1991.
- Waiting On Your Promises - This was written after my disappointing experience in New Jersey. I felt like the something important was coming, but I didn't know what it was. It's kind of a cry out to God to make good on his plans for me.
- Needing Yesterday - My wife and I have spats occasionally, and this song was my attempt to reach out to her and to start the ball rolling on improving our relationship.
- What If - My spouse, Joanne, wrote the words to this song, while she was having a bath.
