Anson taught himself to read and write.

One time when Hazel was a little girl Anson took her to his room and got out a trunk with baby clothes and gave Hazel a little red flannel jacket for a new baby, tiny sized. Probably had shrunk. It had been Nathan's who had died
    in infancy.

Married Julia Albertson who was spiritual/ godly, to a degree that left an everlasting imprint on her children.

Julia's father's name was George Albertson and he was involved in the war of 1812. Hazel Abrams knows he was a charter member of the FM church in Verona.

George's wife was a Catholic and apprently was a wonderful woman. She had a family alter.

Nan has his picture. Somebody did it for her 80th birthday -- an old tin type

    Respectable and Godly man.

The whole Timmerman name, had no respect in nan's area. This disrespect was justified since one family member had a lot of illigitimate children.
