  They lived for a time at Buck Lake. About 1893 they purchased a dam and a general store at Lake Opinicon, where John Mable was born. Alexander continued to run the farm and store, and was Postmaster and secretary-treasurer of the school for many years. He built a new cheese factory to replace the old one. As Alexander's health began to fail, his son, Kora, came to manage the farm and business and look after his mother.
