Forgive Our Sins (Psalm 79) (3:52)
Album: Love the Psalms, Volume 6

by Jason Silver (played 53 times)

Lyrics

O God, the nations have come into your inheritance.
They have defiled your holy temple.
They've laid Jerusalem in ruins, and they have fed-
They've fed the bodies of your servants to the birds,
And your faithful to the wild animals.

They have poured out blood like water
All around Jerusalem.
There was no one there to bury them.

We have become a laughing stock to those around us,
Mocked and derided by our neighbours.
How long, O Lord? Will you be angry forever?
Will your jealous anger burn down like a fire,
Or your wrath on nations that do not know you?

And on kingdoms that do not call,
Don't call on your name; they've
Devoured Jacob, and destroyed his home.

Do not hold against us the sins of our fathers.
Let your compassion come quickly to meet us.
For we are brought very low. Help us, God of salvation.
For the glory of your name, deliver us,
And forgive our sins for your name's sake.

Why should the nations say, “Where is their God? Where is their God?”
Before our eyes, this blood be avenged!
Let groaning of the prisoners come before you!
According to your power, preserve those doomed to die!
May they be insulted how they insulted you.

Then your people, the flock of
Your pasture will give thanks to you
Every generation, count your praise!

Do not hold against us the sins of our fathers.
Let your compassion come quickly to meet us.
For we are brought very low. Help us, God of salvation.
For the glory of your name, deliver us,
And forgive our sins for your name's sake.
