“Do not come any closer!
Take the sandals off your feet,
For the place where you're standing is holy ground.”
“I'm the God of your father,
I'm the God of Abraham,
I'm the God of Isaac, and of Jacob.”
Then Moses hid his face,
Since he was afraid
Afraid to look at God.
“I have seen the affliction
Of my people in Egypt.
I have heard their cry for I know their sorrows.
I've come down to deliver them
From the hand of Egyptians
And to bring them up from that land I've promised
A land both good and large
Flowing with milk and honey,
Canaan and all around.
And now indeed the cry of the Israelites has come to me,
And I have also seen how they're oppressed.
So now go, and I will send you to Pharaoh
To bring my people out of Egypt.”
