This Strikes Me As Ironic

Is this a positive result of the American War on Terror? And if Canadians oppose this war, should we be celebrating the recent election in Afghanistan? This seems slightly ironic to me.

Canadians are proud to have contributed to this process from the outset, and we are committed to continuing our work with the government and the people of Afghanistan to build a democratic, stable and peaceful country."
