Thanks Perry,
Very well said. You're right that it's easy to mistakently love the gift more than the giver, and I appreciate you reminding us to keep our focus. The senior pastor at our church talks of something he calls the 'Theology of Orange Juice.' It goes something like this, (though far more eloquently): all things are to bring glory to God, so even when drinking orange juice we can say, "Thanks God, for this excellent juice! You've created it for my enjoyment, and it's a testament of your power, love and grace." I guess I'd call it a "Theology of Pipe Smoking," but the idea is the same. I want to give God glory in everything I do-- to find some way to worship in each moment, especially as I find myself enjoying something in this world our God has created.
